About the Artist

Sunny Yoo is a Korean-American artist based in San Francisco whose colorful, expressive paintings explore joy, nostalgia, emotion, and the healing power of everyday beauty. Born in Seoul and raised in Singapore, she grew up surrounded by diverse cultures and nationalities - an experience that shaped her belief that human connection transcends language, background, and where we're born. Her art reflects that same spirit of openness, connection, and curiosity.

Her art journey began unexpectedly - after years working in pharmacy, tech, and content creation, a simple painting session of a strawberry during a creative break opened the door to a new path. Acrylic painting became a space for joy, presence, and spiritual reconnection. It also became a way to express her experience as a late-diagnosed neurodivergent person learning about herself, and to create art that resonates with others.

Her body of work spans playful pop art, expressive abstract pieces, whimsical figures, and nostalgic food scenes. She calls herself an "imaginary memories impressionist," especially for her pop art Dining Series - painted vignettes that evoke nostalgic feelings, tender moments, and a longing for slowness and sweetness. These invented memories become visual love letters to girlhood, friendship, slow mornings, and everyday magic.

At the heart of it all is a message: life is hard, but there is sweetness to be found. Her art invites inner child healing, emotional exploration, presence, play, and change - and offers a joyful kind of sanctuary that still holds depth.

Whether you’re seeking a moment of calm, a jolt of joy, or a reminder to savor what’s good - welcome.
